  • Mission – Washington Alliance for Better Schools (WABS) is a collaborative of school districts that leverages resources, talent, and intellectual capital to help over a quarter million students graduate career and college ready.
  • Project submission – WABS needs our WordPress website to be redone – it’s last overhaul happened in 2015, and much about our programming has changed since then. The site is currently not secure, menus aren’t providing the functionality that we need, etc. We have an updated logo that needs to be part of the template. Ideally we would love to integrate a way for us to allow volunteers to sign up for sessions via our website – we haven’t found the functionality we need from things like sign-up genius; the best we have found is generating our own spreadsheet and sharing via Google Drive, but many companies where we recruit volunteers block the use of the Google suite. Would be ideal to house this on our site to work around this.

The WABS team worked with GiveCamp volunteers to deliver on a long list of upgrades to the website, including: a new theme, adding SSL, training/testing the backup restore functionality of the host, and redesigning the flow of the website to follow the personas of the users the nonprofit was trying to reach. The team really tried to keep the website as straightforward as possible so that the nonprofit can focus on their mission instead of managing a website.
